What it says on the box. A thread to discuss the album.
This album is the first thing I heard by Tommy, other than rough live versions of some of the new GNR stuff, and its pretty much the reason I'm here now. Basically I love this album.
Have to be honest: I think the vocals are a weak point, but thats just because Tommy has a very punk voice and a lot of the songs are a bit too slow for it. But overall its a great album.
Favourite tracks would be Without A View, Bite Your Tounge, Motivation and even if it contradicts what I said earlier Light of Day.

Also the first thing I'd heard by Tommy other than Oh My God and the GN'R bootlegs. It's pretty much the record that made me so impressed by him as an all-round musician. Until that point, Robin had been my favourite member of the current GN'R line-up just because of his involvement with Nine Inch Nails. Now I'm really hoping that Tommy has the most input into Chinese Democracy (next to Axl and Dizzy).
My favourite tracks are all the more punky ones. And Light Of Day, because I can play it. lol

I like Light of Day a lot too. Probably my favorite song, though the whole album is strong.

My favourite has got to be Hey You, or Bite Your Tounge... not sure why though.

I do that a lot. I often have a really hard time if someone asks me why I like a song and they want a more in-depth answer than 'I like the way it makes me feel'.
Incidentally another thing I've recently realised I like about this album is the way all the songs fit together. I rarely skip songs anyway, partially out of a sense that the artist put them in for a reason and partially out lazyness, but I do notice if a song seems out of place.
It happens on a lot of albums, but Tommy seems to have done a really good job of finding songs that fit together.

Yeah, you're right on with that one! Even though there is variety in the songs on this album they still fit very well toghether so there isn't really a need to skip... (although I don't like the actual song Village Gorilla Head :s) But anyway yeah- those two songs like you said: just make me feel good. haha.

Yeah, I agree. And it's even more impressive considering a lot of the songs sound different (something that was done deliberately... playing around with the levels and sounds of the instruments so they don't sound the same the whole way through). Most people would have thought that'd harm the way the album flows... Tommy said a friend of his did the track sequencing of the record, and he was a genius at it. That must be true.

Yeah, I believe it! On the album cover somewhere it says alot of it was recorded in his house and in a mobile studio which is impressive.

"Recorded at Hollywood Sound using the Frank Black mobile recording studio. Additional recording done in my bedroom as well as the Blue Room."
Its really random but I love the informal way the credits are written on that album. Makes it more personal in a way.

I love "Someday"....it's one of my favorite all-time songs. I don't know why, but the emotion in that song gets me.

I just pulled this out again today, love this cd. All the songs are good. Gave several people the cd for Christmas gifts, think Best Buy had to reorder because of me.

Thats cool. I've recomended it (and Tommys stuff in general) to several people recently and hopefully some of them will really get into it. Always amazes me how much great music goes virtually unknown.

I heard the stuff on myspace and loved it, ordered as an import from Amazon a couple of months ago and haven't heard anything since I'm determined to track it down though
